            The Kind Stranger

Anna was walking home from school when she saw a man sitting on the sidewalk. He looked dirty and tired, and he had a cardboard sign that said "Homeless. Hungry. Please help." Anna felt sorry for him, but she didn't have any money to give him. She wondered if anyone ever stopped to talk to him or offer him some food.

She decided to do something kind for him. She went to a nearby bakery and bought a sandwich and a bottle of water with her allowance money. Then she walked back to the man and handed him the food and drink. "Here you go, sir. I hope this helps you," she said with a smile.

The man was surprised and grateful. He thanked Anna and took the sandwich and water. He told her his name was John and he had been homeless for a few months after losing his job and his apartment. He said he had no family or friends to help him. He said he felt lonely and hopeless most of the time.

Anna listened to him with compassion and empathy. She told him her name and that she was in fifth grade. She said she liked reading books and playing soccer. She asked him what he liked to do before he became homeless. He said he used to work as a mechanic and he enjoyed fixing cars and motorcycles. He said he also liked listening to music and watching movies.

They talked for a while and found out they had some things in common. They both liked rock music and comedy movies. They both had blue eyes and brown hair. They both loved animals and nature.

Anna felt happy that she had made a new friend. She realised that John was not so different from her or anyone else. He was just a person who needed some kindness and care. She hoped that her gesture would make him feel better and give him some hope.

She told him that she had to go home soon, but she would come back to visit him again. She asked him if there was anything else she could do for him. He said no, but he asked her if she could give him a hug. She agreed and hugged him gently.

He smiled and said, "Thank you, Anna. You are very kind. You made my day."

She smiled back and said, "You're welcome, John. You are very brave. You made my day too."
